cpio-speed over network

I'm using cpio to copy about 18Gb of data from one system to another (D370 to K370 with 12H) on our 100Mb network. At the moment overall average speed is about 65Mb/min. Is this what I can expect or might this indicate another bottleneck.

Hi,

It lot depends on applications running on your network/servers,how your servers are connected on network,user activity on both the servers and of course i/o buffers on server.

In my opinion it is a slow transfer and requires attention.

Are you certain that the entire path between the two systems is 100 Mbit/s? 65 MB/minute is awfully close to the limit of a 10Mbit/s segment.

Also, what is the CPU loading on either system at the time, and what about the DISC utilization? Any TCP retransmissions being recorded in the netstat statistics?
