CPU load

One of my superdome partition is allocated with single cpu. The CPU utilization is hardly 2%, implies CPU is 98% idle. My concern is the load average is always 4 or so. i did some diagnostic and found 4 or 5 processess always in run queue and hence the CPU load. Further to tune the performance need some inputs. Also do i get a performance tuning guide for HP-UX 11.11? Thanks in advance your response is appreciated.

Re: CPU load

There is a good book by Sauers and Weygant (HP-UX Tuning and performance) which explains how to diagnose system performance fully. To start I would compare figures in glance and sar.

Re: CPU load

Can anybody tell me what could be the problem, and how do i exactly go about this so that my system load comes down. I really dont find any good document from HP.

Re: CPU load

Its not that easy just to give you an answer, there are a number of factors involved. You should check other outputs in order to check your memory usage, your disk usage etc. What are the 4 or 5 processes always running? Do you have any zombies? etc...
