CPU Upgrade
Upgrading D230 to D270/2, original firmware 36.48, upgraded to 38.40, installed new power supply, and new D270/2 CPU. System panics on HPUX (vmunix) boot, error meassage FLT B800 ccio driver not found in kernel. Tryed to downgrade firmware to 38.46 (D220/230)to install original CPU, firmware installation fails. Any suggestions, starting recovery procedure for installing critical files only.

Re: CPU Upgrade
Mark
Before upgrading you should have added the cciio driver to your /stand/system file and built a new kernel with htis driver installed.
You will have to go back to the D220/30 config, rebuild the kernel, then redo you hardware upgrade.
I think you may not have to downgrade the firmware to reboot to your old hardware config.

Re: CPU Upgrade
The major difference in the architecture of these two CPU boards is the way how the GSC bus is generated. In the Dx20/x30 provides the PA7300LC processor the GSC bus as central bus. In a Dx50/Dx60/Dx70/Dx80 has the processor a runway bus interface and a runwaybus-to-GSC bus converter (U-turn) is located on the CPU board. The U-turn needs the ccio driver.
To make a long story short: downgrade the system back to a D230, include the ccio driver to the kernel and upgrade it again to a D270.
