crashdumps, q4 and kwdb -q4 -- versions and where to download from
What I know (I think) so far:
(a) kwdb provides the access to the innards of the crashdump and kernel file, and there is one current version for all systems.
(b) q4 provides the commands for kwdb to run to get the data. For this reason the version of q4 must be compatible with the OS version.
(c) When trying to use kwdb -q4 on a different system to the one that crashed, you must have the correct q4, but the latest kwdb and any reasonable perl version will work.
If those are wrong, please elucidate.
I have a copy of kwdb 3.1.9 (downloaded by someone in the US. From here in the UK the links get nowhere). What versions of q4 are there, and where do I get them from?
Thanks,
David
