create an OpenSSH software depot for HP-UX 11i

I have made minor modifications to the OpenSSH source code to cope with a new application and installed gcc, openssl....etc..etc to achieve this. I would now like to create a software depot for my modified version of ssh, so I can distribute this across the rest of the environment without installing compilers everywhere. Has anyone out there done this before and maybe got a script to create a depot (HP-UX 11i)?

Hi Alec,

It's every easy to create the package once you have the binaries in place. The package configuration would include

1. the binaries
2. configure script runs during the post installation phase that will generate host keys if they are not existing already.

I suggest you start playing with SD-UX.

You have to create a product specification file that contains details about your package (binaries, configure script etc) and run 'swpackage' on it to create a depot.

Look at 'man swpackage' and 'man 5 swpackage' for details on swpackage and format of the 'psf' file.

the best way to create your own depot is to use HP Software Package Builder. It is available at:

I see that you have your own version of SSH but wanted to point you to http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=T1471AA

which HP's own port based on OpenSSH. It might have some features you are looking for.

Thanks everyone for your help. I used the software package builder in the end to make the psf file which I found really useful.
