How to a definition the 'stape' driver of the tape drive on my server(9000/8420(11.11i),
without create new kernel

after adding new kernel you must exit the sam then "select create a new kernel now" and need to restart server before effect the the new create kernel driver.

Your previous kernel is saved as vmunix.prev as a backup in /stand
As always....take appropriate backups.

Asking the same question a couple of days later is not gonna give you a different solution.
Just like in http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1150567 people will keep on telling you that creating a new kernel and rebooting the system is the only way to solve your problem.
There really is no other way to put the stape driver in your running system.
