Re: Creating an Ignite Tape
# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -a /dev/rmt/?mn -I -v -m tar -x inc_entire=vg00
You must be sure to use a no-rewind tape device. In the command line above I have /dev/rmt/?mn. You must replace the ?mn with your appropriate tape device number.
If you do not have Ignite/UX installed you can get it here:

Re: Creating an Ignite Tape
THis is the command I use
/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -v -I -x inc_entire=vg00 -a /dev/rmt/0m -t "Recovery Tape for Feb 2004"
-I is for interactive mode during the recovery. Look at man page for more options.

Re: Creating an Ignite Tape
What I do is make a tape for each of my boxes to place in a disaster recovery box.
I place a DDS tape in the 0m drive and run the following command:
make_tape_recovery -A
Do a man on make_tape_recovery to see all the available options. By default the command uses 0m as the tape drive, but -a allows you to provide a different tape drive for creating the archive.
Hope this helps!
