creating package to launch OPS instances

hi

I read the following note in building an OPS cluster configuration

â You must create the OPS instance package with a PACKAGE_TYPE of
FAILOVER, but the fact that you are entering only one node ensures that
the instance will only run on that node.â

Why we can not but the second node so when the package fails it will start in second node?

Re: creating package to launch OPS instances

In an OPS environment, each node runs an Oracle package which accesses the SAME database. That is the difference between standard ServiceGuard, which allows a set of data to be accessed from only one node at any given time, and ServiceGuard-OPS (now known as ServiceGuard with Extensions for Oracle RAC).

It would be pointless to fail a package over to another node when that other node is already running an Oracle instance which is already accessing the same data for users.

Re: creating package to launch OPS instances

You know that's a good question. I also have PACKAGE_TYPE for the package.conf file listed as FAILOVER instead of SYSTEM_MULTI_NODE.

Don't know.
