Creating packages in HP UX

Hi,
I am a newbie to HP. I have to create installable packages out of some of my source files. Can anyone explain me the difference between -d and @ option. Ain't they both specify the destination for the software to be installed. Also if in my psf file if I specify a directory under product class what is the use of that. Please provide me with any good tutorials or links if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Creating packages in HP UX

-d was used in older versions as like @ operation. You can use @ for destination of the software to be installed.

PSF file format has to be like this:

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90740/ch10s04.html#d0e19554

Product -> File Set -> directory / file

Re: Creating packages in HP UX

Hi Mansih ,

Check the above links for Creating a Product Specification File (PSF) .

The PSF can:

Define vendor information (optional) for groups of products (including all products), or for individual products.

Specify one or more products (required).

For each product, define attributes for one or more subproducts (optional), filesets (required), and files (required).

Define attributes for the distribution depot/media (optional).

Specify what computer(s) and operating system(s) the product supports.

Define attributes that describe the software objects

Check out the free HP GUI for packaging, called Software Package Builder (SPB), read about and and get it here:
