Creating the sotware with Ignite Backup
Dear All,
We are planning to create the Software depots for dumping the software and patch bundles.Once adunped the image will be backed up using Ignite Ux #make_sys_image.
This will help us for the post installations after the Image deploy .
The basic idea of this task is reduce image size (particularly in network installation).
Suggestion are welcome
Thanks a lot.

Dear all
To be more clear
The installation shound be in the manner given below.
Installations can occur from multiple Software Distributor (SD) depots in a single installation session.
1. For example, you could install your base OS from one SD depot,
2.a set of patches from another SD depot, and
3.the applications you want from a third SD depot, all in one session
Can u pls help. How to do this.

Re: Creating the sotware with Ignite Backup
If I understand you correctly you want to do a network install using depots on an Ignite server.
Make sure that you are using a current version of Ignite-UX. You need to follow the procedure in the Ignite-UX Administration Guide, specifically Chapter 8, Section A, Installing the HP-UX Operating System. You will use the make_depots and make_config commands to create the desired depots on your Ignite server using an HP-UX DVD. The examples given are to create an 11.11 depot. Mount the DVD and run make_depots to create an depot. For example:
make_depots -v -r B.11.23 -s /SD_CDROM
make_config -r B.11.23
Create additional depots for patches and apps.
Now you can boot the target system from the Ignite server and install 11.23 using the depots that you created.
Hope this helps.

Ganesh,

The OS can not be installed using SD, for that you have to use Ignite.
Regards,
Jaime.
