cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

I keep getting this error when I use cstm to get cpu info. I can see no documentation on this error, but maybe I'm getting lost in the maze that is HP support.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

If the diagnostic was started recently it could take some minutes before you can interact. Try later.

Maybe it helps to restart the daemon.

/sbin/init.d/diagnostic stop / start

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

I tried restarting the daemon - doesn't work.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Hi,
machinfo command gives the official processor names.
Online diagnostics can be used to identify HP FRU id.

Instead diagnostics should be used to identify FRUs.
For example:
/usr/sbin/cstm 2>&1 << EOF
selclass qualifier system
info;wait
infolog
view
done
EOF

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Thanks, but I'm looking for the physical slot that the cpu sits in. If you have another way to see that, I'm all ears.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

can you select the device manually or does it give you an error

do cstm
then map
then sel dev 26

then il

or does it also give you an error

Selecting the device manually provides the same error.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

try stopping and starting ems and diag

To stop all EMS monitors while the system is running:

/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig
(choose "k" from menu to stop EMS)

To start EMS monitors while the system is running:(same but choose "e" to enable EMS)

To stop diagnostics while the system is running:

/sbin/init.d/diagnostic stop

To start diagnostics while the system is running:

/sbin/init.d/diagnostic start

then try the echo "selclass qualifier cpu;info;wait;il" | cstm

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

This looks like it might be a licensing issue.

dl only shows the extremely cryptic message:

"You have access to unlicensed tools only on this system."

It doesn't tell me what I don't have access to.

Oh well, thanks to all who replied.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Unlikely.

Some STM tools (e.g. expert tools) are protected. You need to install a license to run these tools.

Have look into the Tools -> latest logs , if you can find any hint.

Most problems in client server communication are due to problems in name resolution. Did you check this?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

The first command I always run when running cstm is scs (select current server) just to make sure it knows the server name and environment.

I think the last time I had that error I had to re-install the OnlineDiag software.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Shalom,

swremove followed by swinstall might help in these circumstances.

Before doing that, I'd like to see how cstm's playmates mstm and xstm are working.

It may be a problem with the depot, and it may be corrected in a later depot, though this software is pretty fresh.

Do you have another system with the same revision on it to test if this is a bug?

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Thanks for your replies.
- scs had no effect

I guess I should have mentioned that in an attempt to fix the issue, I swremoved the old OnlineDiag (B.11.23.07.04) and installed the latest depot (B.11.23.09.05).

Same effect - CPUs are greyed out in the gui, and the "Information" item is unavailable.

Both revisions produce the same results on all my 11.23 rx4640s. My PA boxes do not produce this error but are admittedly still at 11.11 (apples & oranges).

Thanks again.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Hi Paul,
I've just seen this thread, sorry you haven't been given the right answer before now.

On IA systems, there is no CPU info tool. The System Info tool should give information about the CPUs (though it is dependent on the model exactly what information you see), and 'machinfo' is an alternative way to get CPU information.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Reading a thread more carefully may be helpful sometimes, but I didn't :-(

Thank you Andrew, sorry Paul.

This is not an error, but it looks like.

If you select the "system" item, stm will make you aware of this:

"...
For additional information about the system and the CPUs, please run the
following command:

/usr/contrib/bin/machinfo"

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Thanks for the unfortunate but definitive answer. Unfortunately the System Tool doesn't give me what I'm looking for on the rx4640.

Re: cstm - Information and Infolog are currently disabled.

Well, the EFI shell isn't entirely convenient, but that is essentially the info I'm looking for.

Thanks!
