DAT40 HP5300

I have connected a HP5300 with a single DAT40 drive to my rp2430. the system cannot see the tape device.

stape and tape2 are already configured in the kernel. Are there any other drivers I should be aware of, or patches that should be included.

Regards

Martin.

Re: DAT40 HP5300

What about 'ioscan -fn' ? Does it produce any 'UNCLAIMED' device? Can you see this device from the boot console menu?

Re: DAT40 HP5300

Hi Martin,

Few things....
1) Check the SCSI ID on the back of the slot in that enclosure & make sure there's no conflict with any other device on that bus.
2) Make sure it's also terminated back there.
3) I've had a couple of 5300 that had a bad slot - try another slot.

HTH,
Jeff

Re: DAT40 HP5300

Yea - I don't know if HP had a bad run of these or what, but the amount that have bad slots seems high to me. I'd have them replace it because you never know when you'll need all 4.

Cheers,
Jeff
