hi,
I want to install an hp DAT40 tape (C5686B)on H50 server operated by hp-ux 9.04 .I physically installed it and when executing ioscan command the S/W and H/W output is ok and driver is tape2.
But when testing with tar command using all device files in /dev/rmt the following message is recieved;
Can not open device /dev/rmt/....
So is it a driver issue?, becuase the DAT40 driver for hp-ux10.20 and 11.0 is stape according to tape manual.
Any idea how to operate this tape on hp-ux 9.04 server?
Thanks

Re: dat40 installation
It does sound like that could be a firmware issue. It's also worth bearing in mind that 9.04 is no longer supported and is not Y2K compliant. I don't have the details to hand, but I think the H50 is also out of support.
