To my knowledge, no. Just ensure your /etc/TIMEZONE file reflects the fact your location observers Daylight Savings Time.

Re: day light saver time change

There is a patch to accomodate the U.S. change in start/end dates: PHCO_34668.

Re: day light saver time change

When should I apply the patches? Is it any time before March 2007 or after the next (October) change?

Thanks

Re: day light saver time change

Anytime you like will be fine. The only "gotcha" is that currently running processes such as the cron daemon will not have a clue that tztab has been changed. You could , of course, terminate and restart cron but there is no guarantee that you have fixed every critical process. Therefore the best approach is to install the patch and then schedule a maintenace window for a reboot. You can use the attached Perl script, dst.pl, to check your work. It uses the same underlying libc routines that the standard UNIX commands such as date use, so if the Perl script displays the correct time transitions then you are good to go BUT again, this does not indicate that currently running processes will be aware of the change.
Invoke as "dst.pl -u" for full usage.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: day light saver time change

For java check www.hp.com/go/java. There is a link off the main page in red. Also, before month end there may be a tool available, similar to sun and IBM's that will change Java TZ files without having to install a whole new Java version.
Also check:
8606420800 - YK changes in librwtool and in lib++.a
fix
Applications linked shared can just apply the aC++ Runtime patch.
If linked archive, the application must be relinked.

For librwtool the following patches exist:
[PHSS_33941/PACHRDME/English] 11.00
[PHSS_33942/PACHRDME/English] 11.11
[PHSS_34041/PACHRDME/English] 11.23

lib++.a is only fixed with the A.03.70 release.

8606430960 - DCE and Daylight Saving changes in U.S.

Fix Release : - 11.31
11.11 : - December 2006
11.23 : - December 2006
cheers,
Nick

Re: day light saver time change

While it is not necessary to re-boot, it is generally recommended so that long running, time dependant process (like cron and DB apps) will get restarted with the new changes.

Pete

P.S. It's also generally recommended that you start your own thread rather than adding a separate question to someone else's.
