DCE Endpoing Resolution (port 135)
How do I shutoff port 135 on HP-Unix 10.20? This port is broadcasting so much traffic that it is hanging up my network. Also, I don't have a firewall, so I can't block it there. Any ideas?

Re: DCE Endpoing Resolution (port 135)
Check which process is using that port.
lsof -p tcp:135 -- if tcp
lsof -p udp:135 -- if udp.
Check which processes is using it and kill it if really not required.
Or stop it by checking corresponding entry in inetd.conf file.

Re: DCE Endpoing Resolution (port 135)
RAC, that's probably epmap of DCE. If you can afford to shutdown DCE, then do so.
Though one should consider upgrading HPux to 11.11.

Re: DCE Endpoing Resolution (port 135)
Thanks for your inputs. Unfortunately, I do not have the option of upgrading HPUX. I've tried to kill the program and that doesn't seem to work.
