Delay mirrored EVAs from synchronising

Hi Guys,

I am running HPUX clustering. I have two EVA which seems to be mirrored real time. I dont want real time mirroring but a delay of 3hours before synchronising. How do I achieve it? And how do manually stop the synchronisation if I choose to..

Charles,

Assuming you are talking about Continuous Access EVA replication between the two EVAs, then what you are requesting is not possible. The closest I think you could get would be to take snapclones of the replicated disks every 3 hours (for which of course you would need sufficient capacity).

Stepping back from the technology here, what is your problem and what are you trying to achieve?

Shalom,

You could configure the the business copy function on the EVA to run every three hours.

There is on many EVA's a windows based management system including a scheduler.

But I agree with post 1.

If you want to get pictures of the data use the snapshot functionality of the EVA.

Re: Delay mirrored EVAs from synchronising

Recently, I hit ORA-00600 error that caused me to recreate my database and that caused hours of planned downtime. If the mirror of the EVA were not to be realtime, I would have still be able to have healthy database on the remote EVA even when the ORA-00600 error was noticed. I hope I am clear enough... Meanwhile how can I configure my system to send me email alert as soon as ORA-XXXXX error is received in my alert log?
