depot creation

I wish to copy certain installed products from one HP server to several others. The source of these products (depot/CD) is no longer available. I thought the easiest option would be to create a depot on the source machine using swcopy but any attempt moans about no depot software being available as source. I'm not sure if I can do it with swpackage either. Is there a way around this?

Re: depot creation

Attaching a script:

It builds depots from other depot files.

I don't have depot files as source. Can I source the installed products themselves or is that a no-goer?

Re: depot creation

Once the products are installed you are going to have trouble repackaging them.

Can you request the cd's from HP?

Other than that maybe use make_tape_recovery and clone the OS and swremove the bundles you don't want after the build is complete. Make sure you are licenced though.

Dave.

Re: depot creation

The original server had the bundles installed from a variety of sources - depot server, remote tar files, NFS filesystems and local depots. As there is no quick and easy way to do it from the original server then I guess I'll have to update my depot server with all of the products and swinstall from there.

Thanks for the advice.
