Depot / Patch cluster package

We would like to build a two node cluster that would function as a Depot/Patch/Software server.

Should it just be a VG failover package, so only the depots/patches will fail over, or should wouldn't that work because they're not registered on the other node? Perhaps running swreg at each failover?

Any hints would be very appreciated :) thanks...

Re: Depot / Patch cluster package

Or what about exporting the volumegroup to the other node with NFS and swreg it there as well?

This would also mean it's avaible on the two nodes on the same time... sure would be good for something...

NFS is not a good idea. Cluster setup is ok. You will have put swreg to register depots when they failover.

Re: Depot / Patch cluster package

David,

Seems a lot of trouble to go to for just a SD depot server as the data within is usually pretty static. Why not just swcopy all the depots from one machine to the other. Then both systems can operate as a depot server independant of each other. Wouldn't take much to write some scripts to automate this process and keep the depots in sync.
