device for fbackup required???

what kind of device file is required for "fbackup" in HP-UX11iv1 and what are the returns of successfull fbackup? Please help me

Shalom,

fbackup requires a valid tape device.

All you should need to do is connect a scsi tape drive and run insf -e as I wrote to your other thread.

A reboot of the system will perform the device creation.

As far as I know fbackup will not create backups to disk, although I'm sure it can probably be fooled into doing so.

Hi,

It doesn't really matter what tape device you use, fbackup always rewinds the tape before it begins its backup. For more details on fbackup look at "man fbackup" and also look at page 685 of the "Managing Systems and Workgroups: A Guide for HP-UX System Administrators" at
