DHCP Message on boot
I get the following message when I boot up IA-64, Hp-UX 11.23
The dhcpclient was refused an extension for the current lease. The system must cease using DHCP for management of the network interface. Please contact your Network administrator for assistance. Do you wish to halt the system now?
[y/n default 'y'] ?
Now, I had to re-image the box, and then edited the etc/rc.config.d/netconf by hand, just changing the IP and the system name.
If I hit y, we boot ok and I have the IP I wanted, but, if I don't look for it, the system waits for me, thus not really booting all the way.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Scott

Re: DHCP Message on boot
Scott,
Could you please advice by running the setboot command what the values are. Also what role is DHCP playing here.
Thanks

Re: DHCP Message on boot
when you edited and placed your ip address into the netconf file, did you notice some line like :
DHCP_ENABLE[X]=1
where X is your network interface instance ?
if so, you are confusing your network subsystem by specifying an IP first and telling it to use DHCP right after that.
if there is a permanent IP address specified in the netconf file for any given network interface card, DHCP_ENABLE[X]parameter should be set to 0.
Hope this helps.
