When i try to ignite a new workstation on my network with the bo lan command a dhcp server answers before my ignite server so my workstation dowloads with a Sxxxxx hostname instead of its real name (face0147)which i had defined on my ignite server in the /etc/bootptab and /etc/opt/ignite/instl_boottab.
My ignite version is B.5.4.50 and i can't upgrade this version.
On my ignite server the instl_adm command displays the following lines :
env_vars += "INST_ALLOW_WARNINGS=10"
env_vars += "USE_EXPERT_UI=true"
env_vars += "TZ=MET-1METDST"
run_ui=false
control_from_server=false
allow_disk_remap=true
hide_boot_disk=false
clean_all_disks=false
server="152.13.103.141"
In /etc/bootptab file i put the following information :
face0147:ba:bp=152.13.103.141:hn:vm=rfc1048:ht=ether:ha=00306E4910B6:gw=152.10.97.1:ip=152.10.100.57:sm=255.255.0.0
In /etc/opt/ignite/instl_boottab i put the following information :
152.10.100.57:0x00306E4910B6:20050419170058:reserve

Re: Dhcp Probleme , got a Sxxxx workstation hostname
I'm not sure what your question is, but from your statements I can conclude that you need to either disable the dhcp server or not use dhcp.

Re: Dhcp Probleme , got a Sxxxx workstation hostname
When i do a search i only the disks , i do not see my ignite server.
For information i can use up to ten ignite servers on my network i don t think i can see them using the sea command i have never seen them.
To install my workstation i use the following command
bo lan.152.13.101.103 install
where 152.13.101.103 is my ignite server ip adress

Re: Dhcp Probleme , got a Sxxxx workstation hostname
I have done a bootprequest with the workstation macadress and i discovered that no server replied , i had just forgotten to start the bootpd process in /etc/inetd.conf on my boot server.
Your bootprequest helped me to diagnose this problem thanks a lot...
