Diagnostics port (1508) conflicting with TSM

Hi:

I am discovering right now that TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) uses 1508 port for its schedulers. As it is the port also used by Diagnostics (STM and EMS), may you please tell me if there is a way to change the port used by Diagnostics? Thanks in advance for your comments.

I have just done a quick test on a workstation. It appears that if you change the tcp port for diagmond in /etc/services to something else that diagmond will then use the new port.

I did the following:

1) Stopped diagnostics.
# /sbin/init.d/diagnostic stop

2) Modified /etc/services and changed:
diagmond 1508/tcp # Diagnostic System Manager

to

diagmond 1349/tcp # Diagnostic System Manager

3) Restarted diagnostics.
# /sbin/init.d/diagnostic start

At this point it appears that diagnostics is now using port 1349.

Make sure that the port number you pick is not in use by something else.

I believe that TSM should be using port 1500 not 1506.

everything I find on the web shows 1508 as reserved for diagmond.
