Dial in to HP D / K Class
I'm trying to dial into a D Class server from an NT4 PC using a standard
modem. I am using Hyperterminal which does get me to the server, where I'm
prompted for the password (set at the HP end). When I enter this password I
get a message to say 'Remote Console Connected' but I'm not able to type
anything in the window (ie. No further Login screen is presented and I'm not
able to send a break signal). Does anybody (a) use any other tools to do this
successfully (hopefully shareware) ; or (b) Have any ideas on solving the
problem I'm experiencing. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Many
Thanks in advance,
Chris Treharne

Re: Dial in to HP D / K Class
Hi Chris,
It could be that your modem is using HW flow control. Change this to SW flow
control or turn it off. You'll have to check the manufacturers guide for the
setting,
Regards,
Neil.

Re: Dial in to HP D / K Class
Thanks to Neil for responding. I've followed the suggestions about the modem
and tried it with Flow Control off / Flow Control Software and Flow Control
Hardware - all with the same result. Any other suggestions. Many Thanks,
Chris Treharne.

Re: Dial in to HP D / K Class
I think you can still continue using HW control, but
you need to set connection preferences to suit your UNIX server setting, such
as number of data bits(7 bits) and parity (even),and connection speed (9600).
Please also remember to set terminal mode (vt100).
