Didn't been warn about the UPS running

Hi guys,

We've experienced an electric breakdown. My HP-UX box is connected to a HP PowerTrust II UPS, I'm running ups_mond to monitor and shutdown the box when on UPS. Unfortunatly ups_mond seems not have warn me about the electric breakdown. I've nothing in any log...

I wonder why ups_mond didn't detect that the breakdown happened.... This have cause a crash of my box...

Any one have any idea?

Re: Didn't been warn about the UPS running

Did /etc/ups.conf correct and working. Was EMS monitor configured for UPS??

Re: Didn't been warn about the UPS running

ups_conf:

# @(#) $Revision: 70.4 $
shutdown_delay_mins:10
shutdown_timeout_mins:7
kill_after_shutdown:N
upstty:/dev/tty0p1

And the EMS was configure to trap ups events....

Re: Didn't been warn about the UPS running

If the UPS software was running correctly, there should be some messages in the old syslog showing the UPS monitor daemon starting, logging status etc. If these are there, check that the UPS is physically connected to the server via its cable, the UPS monitor daemon doesn't notice if you pull out the comms cable (Duh hp!)

Re: Didn't been warn about the UPS running

I have nothing in the OLDsyslog.log file....

My box is an rp5430 running HP-UX 11.00

The cable of the UPS is connected to the GSP UPS cable (see what I mean???)
