diff MAC address on HP-VM

Hi Experts,

one the running guest i took a Ignite backup with the assigned MAC -address, then i had deleted the Vswitch, the whole VM & from the scratch created a new switch & stoage devices, now when i try to boot from the ignite server in my VM-Guest when i intrepput the boot sequence & try to boot from LANBOOT select, i cannot see the old MAC id in which i had taken a backup..

Can you advice where i need to change the MAC id as old one in the new Vswitch, so that it can read the old backup and boot up to the newly cretaed Guest.

Thanks

Re: diff MAC address on HP-VM

You should adjust the ignite server to reflect the new MAC.

Hope this helps!

your situation is just that you need to tell ignite server that this is the new mac address, and it would take care of things.

Re: diff MAC address on HP-VM

when you assign a vswitch to a VM, you are able to specify your own MAC adress in the 3rd field of the resource statment:
hpvmmodify -a network:lan::vswitch:

So your line might look like this:
hpvmmodify -a network:avio_lan:,,02-02-03-04-05-06:vswitch:net1
Where 02-02-03-04-05-06 is your MAC address

Re: diff MAC address on HP-VM

Shalom,

You will probably need to delete the old client directory on the Ignite server, and add, via the menus provided by /opt/ignite/bin/ignite application.
