Difference between HP-UX 11 & 11i

Hi,

Can anyone give me overview what is the common difference between 11 & 11i. I know about Virtual Partitioning. But that is more on RP class based. Anything else, I heard there is lots of facility in 11i, but did not get full info.

Try this link to start with:

http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/operating/index.html

It is the main page for the HP-UX operating system.

There's lots of differences, some major, some minor. One of the big ones is that some of the kernel tuning parameters can be changed without recompiling and re-installing the kernel. Here's a link:

Hi,

A previous answer I gave has a link to the 11i release notes, which are always a good place to start, as is the link Patrick gave.

I use both right now, in the process of moving off the 11 boxes.

Under the hood the differences are probably huge, but on a day to day basis, they have a lot in common.

An area you need to think about is applications. Not all applications certified for 11 are certified for 11i. MicroFocus Cobol comes to mind, you'll need a version upgrade there.

Cyborg HR requires an upgrade as well and all versions aren't certified 64 bit or 11i
