difference between product and fileset

Hello guys,

can anybody tell me what is the difference between B2491BA B.11.11 MirrorDisk/UX

and LVM.LVM-MIRROR-RUN B.11.11 LVM-MIRROR-RUN
PHCO_35955.LVM-MIRROR-RUN 1.0 LVM.LVM-MIRROR-RUN

and what are the additional features of the MirrorDisk/UX

Waiting for your response.

Re: difference between product and fileset

Is this related to your other thread
http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1221544 ?

The mirrordisk feature is bundled into the OS and the fileset is part of the OS product - that's it.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: difference between product and fileset

thanks, yes its related with the said thread. we have the file set on some server, on few server we have only MirrorDisk/UX and on some server both are there. we have mirrored LVs on all the servers. is there any additional features of MirrorDisk/UX? do we need to install MirrorDisk/UX if its not there, only fileset is there?

thanks and Regards,

Re: difference between product and fileset

There are SD bundles, products and filesets. These are used to organize the software pieces and files in a hierarchy.

Each of these "containers" can contain multiple instances of the next smaller type.

Note that multiple SD bundles can share SD products. And filesets contain the files.

In your case, LVM and PHCO_35955 contain the fileset LVM-MIRROR-RUN.

There may or may not be any connection between MirrorDisk/UX and the LVM SD product except the latter is probably needed.

Re: difference between product and fileset

Filesets: a fileset is a collection of files and some control scripts.it is the basic entity in sd-ux software hierarchy

Products: a product is a superset of filesets and or subproducts, by default hp-ux deals with products.
