I am working on Batch Job Scheduler, we call it MAESTRO. But yesterday, i came to know that there is a differnce b/w maestro and mpe.
Could one please confirm if all the terms (maestro, tivoli, mpe, unison) are in same bucket or have differences.
Thank you.

Re: Difference in MPE and Maestro
Adding to Pete,
Unison Software Inc, is now part of IBM
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9503E3D81438F935A2575AC0A961958260
Unison developed Maestro on HP-MPE OS, after IBM bought under it is known as many names,
few call it maestro,
few tivoli, few Job Scheduler ..!!
Hope this helps

SolutionMPEX is the operating sys used on the HP3K machines,it is entirely different from the normal unix.
It does not have any kind of files systems or any hierarchy's.
Tivoli Maestro is the software used to schedule the jobs and monitors to run on the system.
In MPEX if the Maestro job fails we need to recover it from the point of failure..which is a disadvantage and doesnt happen in the normal unix systems.
HP has now stopped supporting for HP3K and MPEX.
Let me know if u need any more info..
Thanks,
Ricky

Re: Difference in MPE and Maestro
It is also, at least in my opinion, incorrect to say that it doesn't have hierarchy's. It does. They are just completely different from HP-UX.

Re: Difference in MPE and Maestro
1. mpe or better MPE/iX is an HP proprietary OS.
2. maestro is a scheusling tool that can run both on mpe.ix and/or unix (in UNIX is usually called conman)
3. unison is company
4. tivoli is a company
