Disable peep sound in J5000 workstation

Hi,

I have setup a J5000 workstation without the graphical monitor and keyboard but with a dumb HP console connected to the com1. The system keep sending peeping sound complaining not able to display X after successfully installed HPUX 11.00.

How to disable the peeing sound or any alternate solution.

Hi
Check the file /usr/dt/config/Xservers and /etc/config/Xservers (if this exists).
If you have a line like below at the end of the file, copy the file to /etc/dt/config and comment out the line.


* Local local@console /usr/bin/X11/X :0

You can also force your workstation to load in run-level 3 instead of run-level 4. Open your /etc/inittab and on the first line, put a 3 instead of 4 after init:
