disabling memory

I have a HP L2000 with 4 GB memory that running on HP-UX 11.0 .I need to do multiple benchmark run with varying amount memory, is there any way to disable memory without pull out the memory board.

As far as I know there is no mechanism in HP-UX to enable/disable memory.

The only option I can think of is to pull the SIMMs when you want to benchmark with less memory. Just be careful if / when you do that so that you keep the memory carrier populated correctly.

break the boot sequence
One of the options has to do with configuring the system

You can disable memory from there.

Joseph, what option are you referring to? FASTSIZE? If this is the one then I'm afraid you are mistaken. I'm going to go take a close look at a model L shortly to be sure, but I think Patrick has it right.

Sorry, brain dump. I have been working on that has some processor problems. I was saying memory and thinking processors. You can disable processors.
