How can I get this message into the syslog so I don't have to go to the computer room to monitor it?
The regular frequency makes me think it may be environmental. We're trying to determine if the probelm is internal or external to the server. HP replaced the core I/O board yesterday because it apparently caused a painic and reboot over the weekend but I still get this message on the console.
Thanks,
John Grover

SolutionYou can try adding an entry to /etc/syslog.conf
*.alert /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
Then restart syslog (from /sbin/init.d/syslogd stop then start)..

Check the switch port for errors.
If Hardware will do it, replace the NIC. If not, test the hell out of it so you can convince hardware to replace it.

and /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig.EMS can
send e-mails and snmp traps.
It comes inside the OnlineDiag bundle :
swlist -l bundle OnlineDiag.

Re: Disaster message logging to syslog as well as console?
It only takes recent alerts/errors from
buffer. once reboot dmesg will not display the same messages. But you can find those in
syslog.log by default.
