Disk Array

Disk Array

hi there!

My client wants to convert their D200 running HP-UX 10.10 into a development
server. They have bought a new system D370 with HP-UX 10.20 which they want
make their primary/live server. It is more or less configured like the D200.
The trouble is the D200 has a Disk Array [raid 4] attached to it and I need to
prefereably move it "as is" to the new system without sacrificing user data. I
have NEVER worked with DIsk Arrays before.

Can I move the array like I would with ordinary LVM disks? Any sugestions???

Re: Disk Array

It depends. Some things to consider:
1. What type of array is it? HP? JBOD with software RAID? AutoRaid?
2. SCSI-attached? How many interfaces?
3. Using LVM?
4. How many disks, and what sizes? How much data on the disks?

It may possible to move the hardware with minimal problems, or it may be easier
to backup the data and rebuild the array on the new server. Need more
information.

Re: Disk Array

Hi Ishmael,

You might want to check out the "change root disk" thread in this forum. It
should provide you with enough information about the task you need to
accomplish, provided the raid array is in another volume group
