Disk device file

I have a rx 1620 with two internal disks. But i have not seen a smart card or RAID card on the server. After i installed the server i can't see the device file of the second disk.
This is what i see when i do ioscan -fnC disk.

Re: Disk device file

sakui,

your output looks perfectly normal.

you have two disks as shown in your ioscan

c2t0d0 and c2t1d0

/dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
disk 1 0/1/1/0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 73.4GST373455
LC
/dev/dsk/c2t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0
disk 2 0/1/1/0.1.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 73.4GST373455
LC
/dev/dsk/c2t1d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0
/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s1 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s1
/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s2 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s2
/dev/dsk/c2t1d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s3

the sub device files as you call them are actually on c2t1d0, and these are normal for intergity servers.

The disk has to be partitioned this way, s1 for efi, s2 for root VG and s3 for the service partition.

the other disk may be ready for use if not used already?

what exactly are you trying to do? mirror the disks?

Re: Disk device file

Hi,

your first Integrity?

As mentioned before, there are 2 disks:

dev/dsk/c2t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0
and
dev/dsk/c2t1d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0

The s1, s2, s3 entries are partitons - pretty normal for Integrity boot disks.

If you don't want to see this device files you need to install another OS ;-)

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Disk device file

If you want to mirror your disks, see the appendix here:

Hope this helps!

Re: Disk device file

My main reason is that i can't see the device file for the second disk. /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 is for my DVD drive wht is the device file for my second drive.
i mounted my cdrom with the /dev/dsk/c0t0d0.

Re: Disk device file

hi,

this is your 2nd disk

disk 1 0/1/1/0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 73.4GST373455
LC
/dev/dsk/c2t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0

the device files are listed under the hardware path for each device

both disks are attached to the same controller C2 with a scsi ID of 0 and 1(t1,t2)

you are right that the dvd is c0t0d0
