Hi,
We have got HP-9000 k460/K570 unix boxes.
As we have to add new disks to the system
how to find out whether an internal disk or External disk is being used.
If it is an external disk how to add a new disk it to the system.
when I do #ioscan -fnC disk
The output appears as:
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
======================================================================
disk 3 10/0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST136475LC
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
disk 4 10/0.1.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST136475LC
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0
Thanks in advance,
Lanke

Re: Disk Type
You have several chances :
replace internal disks by bigger ones using an ignite tape to restore the system.
buy an external disk compartment like a Jamica box or something else and connect this to the machine through a FWD SCSI interface.
Parts needed :
interfaces ( HSC or HP PB )
cables
external box for disks ( Jamaica etc )

Re: Disk Type
Thanks for your reply.
Is there any command to find out whether it is
an internal disk or an external disk.
Thanks,
Lanke

SolutionUsually, external SCSI busses are add-on cards, but sometimes the coreio card is used.
You cannot look at the machine? How about sending someone to go look at it?
Good luck
