DLT 7000 and K200

I have installed a DLT 7000 to a K200 via the 10/0 port on the core I/O card. (Claimed on 10/0.3.0, scsi ID 3 for device). The K200 has recognized this and assigned the stape driver to the DLT. I was told that the HPPB bus supports the DLT 7000, unlike the 8000 and that the 10/0 branch of the core I/O is the PB bus. I can create the device within OmniBack, but when I try to initialize media I get either "cannot open device [16] device busy" and the tape will not initalize or "cannot rewind [5] media". I have rebooted my system, reconnected the device, swapped out tapes, etc. The DLTs are Maxell 40/80 and Fuji 35/70 brand new. Is the PB port on the I/O just too slow? Do I need a patch for stape? An additional HPPB card? I would appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you,

Re: DLT 7000 and K200

Hi Robb:

This should work without problems. Are you using the 'mnb' e.g. 0mnb device nodes? Those are the guys you should use with OB2. I would first make sure that the simple commands tar or cpio can use the device before going on to OB2. Also check the standard stuff like proper termination and terminator power enabled on at least one device on the bus.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: DLT 7000 and K200

Hi
Try tar and mt commands with drive before testing it in OBII.

Prashant.
Take it as it comes.

Re: DLT 7000 and K200

My problem with the DLT was the the SCSI that I assigned the drive was already in use by an internal disk. I changed the ID to 15 and it works great. Thank you for your time and suggestions.
