i have a L3000 server that is connected to an External DLT40/80 Tape drive ,
the drive is seen from the PDC level (at the hardware level ) , but from the OS when i type ioscan -fnC tape , it did not found it ,
what should be done ,

If not, add it to your kernel and reboot the server.

if you can see in ioscan "UNCLAIMED" and UNKNOWN, this is a problem of the missing "stape" driver.

check if you have the "schgr" driver loaded also (Tape Autochanger Hardware Driver) to move the Autochanger.

can you post the output of the "ioscan -fn" and "kcsystem" command? Also try to follow the step in http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=lpg50207&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Since HP-UX 11.23 HVD/FWD SCSI interfaces and devices are no longer supported.

You need LVD or SAS SCSI devices.
