Re: DLT not detected by the system

Is the driver 'stape' in your kernel.
If not, add it to your kernel and reboot the server.

Re: DLT not detected by the system

Hi,

if you can see in ioscan "UNCLAIMED" and UNKNOWN, this is a problem of the missing "stape" driver.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DLT not detected by the system

Hi,
check if you have the "schgr" driver loaded also (Tape Autochanger Hardware Driver) to move the Autochanger.

Re: DLT not detected by the system

i have changed the stape and the schgr driver from unused to static but still not work , the ioscan -fnC tape did not give any output ,
note that the version of HP-UX is 11.23

Thank you

Re: DLT not detected by the system

Hi,
can you post the output of the "ioscan -fn" and "kcsystem" command? Also try to follow the step in http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=lpg50207&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Re: DLT not detected by the system

If your tapeunit is a HVD/FWD SCSI unit it will not work.
Since HP-UX 11.23 HVD/FWD SCSI interfaces and devices are no longer supported.

Re: DLT not detected by the system

yes it is a differential SCSI tape drive ,

Re: DLT not detected by the system

No FWD SCSI adapter or device is supported on HP-UX 11i v2 or 3 - see the quickspecs for 11i v2/3.

You need LVD or SAS SCSI devices.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Solution

Re: DLT not detected by the system

Your drive is a F/W differential (HVD) SCSI device and will not work with 11.23 or 11.31.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
