SolutionDLT4000 and DLT7000 uses the same driver (stape).
Is there any mismatches with the SCSI interfaces. Most (all ?) DLT4000 had a narrow SE interface (50 pin). I belive DLT7000 could be either Wide SE or HVD. A Wide SE should work if you have the correct cables but NOT a HVD (and may cause damage).

this is a cumlative patch for sam which has updates for the dlt and dds drives. sorry cannot check if its for the dlt7000 as i cant get onto the patch database right now.
Also have you rebooted the d380 since adding the drive or just plugged it in?
if you just connected it and its not seen in ioscan, do an
#insf -e
then ioscan again, should have loaded the special device files for it.
#ioscan -funC tape should show as claimed and which dev files are loaded.
