DLT7000 on D380 10.20

I'm trying to add a DLT7000 onto a D380. there was a DLT4000 there previously. It has it's own controller. All the hardware is fine and the drivers are in the kernal. Do I need a patch? If so can someone point me in the right direction

Cheers

Re: DLT7000 on D380 10.20

Hi,
DLT4000 and DLT7000 uses the same driver (stape).

Is there any mismatches with the SCSI interfaces. Most (all ?) DLT4000 had a narrow SE interface (50 pin). I belive DLT7000 could be either Wide SE or HVD. A Wide SE should work if you have the correct cables but NOT a HVD (and may cause damage).

Re: DLT7000 on D380 10.20

A DLT7000 will definitely work on a D-380; most DLT7000 drives were HVD/FWD SCSI (High-Voltage Differential) which are not compatible with any compoment of SE-SCSI -- except the cacles and connectors. You need to carefully examine your drive to determine whether or not it is HVD SCSI; if so make sure that you connect it to an A4107A controller on your D-box.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: DLT7000 on D380 10.20

hi if you are using the correct interface for the drive. then check to see if you have this patch installed
PHCO_22268
this is a cumlative patch for sam which has updates for the dlt and dds drives. sorry cannot check if its for the dlt7000 as i cant get onto the patch database right now.
Also have you rebooted the d380 since adding the drive or just plugged it in?
if you just connected it and its not seen in ioscan, do an
#insf -e
then ioscan again, should have loaded the special device files for it.
#ioscan -funC tape should show as claimed and which dev files are loaded.
