DLT80 I/O error with HP -UX 10.20
Hi Folks,
I currently plug a DLT80 into an K450 class with HP-UX 10.20.
Here is the ioscan log:
tape 1 10/4/16.1.0 tape2 CLAIMED DEVICE QUANTUM DLT8000
/dev/diag/rmt/c4t1d0 /dev/rmt/c4t1d0BEST
/dev/rmt/1m /dev/rmt/c4t1d0BESTb
/dev/rmt/1mb /dev/rmt/c4t1d0BESTn
/dev/rmt/1mn /dev/rmt/c4t1d0BESTnb
/dev/rmt/1mnb
I had an external DDS attached to this single end SCSI port before. Now I connect this SCSI port with an DLT80.
Whenever I try to access this newly plugged DLT80, I have I/O error all the time.
Any clue?
Regards,
Yan

That device may require a connection to LVD SCSI. IS that what you are connecting it to?
Next issue, kernel.
sam kernel drivers
put in stape, and then rebuild the kernel. The box will boot.

Re: DLT80 I/O error with HP -UX 10.20
The fact the drive shows up in ioscan suggests that it is correctly connected, but uses an incorrect driver. As suggested by SEP, include the 'stape' driver in your kernel and you should be okay. If it does not change drivers, remove the hardware path using 'rmsf', reboot your system will new driver included and this should work. Disconnecting a drive on a K class will crash the machine. If in doubt how to do this, use SAM to assist with the kernel. Are you up to date with your SCSI patches.
