DNS changes
They network folk want to eliminate the zone transfer we're currently using and go to cache only forward lookup method. What would be required for this ? These servers are HPUX 10.20

Re: DNS changes
You're probably running 4.9.7 patched if you stayed with what's available directly from HP.
In /etc/named.boot, add the following line:
cache . db.cache
If you don't want to pull zones, make sure this is the only line.
Make a file called /etc/named.data/db.cache with the attached contents:
Restart named
#sig_named restart

Re: DNS changes
The attachement is a usable listing of root servers for the internet.
If you ever do a dns lookup and your local(close) dns server can't answer the query, it goes up the line until finally being resolved by one of thirteen authoritative root dns servers.
If you are going to use a dns server, you'll need to tell it the ulitimate authority for dns names, even if your firewall setup would never allow direct communication.
Simply, you need that file to complete your DNS setup on HP-UX.
