DNS confusion

Hi,

I have a domain abc.com and I have two name servers dns1.abc.com and dns2.abc.com

We have hosted many other domains for our customers as well, those domains are pointing to this two named servers as their authoritative named server.

Our domain abc.com is already expired and no longer valid. However, dns1.abc.com and dns2.abc.com are still resolvable.

I believe because the other domains that we hosted are still valid and since they are pointing to this two dns servers as their authoritative, dns1.abc.com and dns2.abc.com are still valid even though abc.com is no longer existence.

However, there is one user who claim that their DNS cannot resolve to one of the domain hosted with us because our abc.com is no longer valid.

Is this claim correct?
