Dns Domain removed

Hi:

One of the DNS domain hat we use will be removed this week. we use that domain as the thitd entry in the search string in /etc/resolv.conf. What would be the impact? should we remove the entry? we do not use that domain.

Thanks

Brian.

Re: Dns Domain removed

If the first two aren't found and it gets to the third, it would seriously relay the timeout response back to the user/application.

I'd remove it!

I'd also consider doing DNS caching on my servers!

Re: Dns Domain removed

Impact could cause "slow" dns resolution - if you are not using it - then remove it - can be done on the fly - and doesn't require reset of anything....
