Greetings, I'm having resource issues on a cheapo fileserver and would like to scale back unneeded processes. Do I need to have p_client, disk_em, dm_core_hw, armmon running?
If no how do I turn them off?

Re: Do I need p_client disk_em....
These processes are part of the HP diagnostics designed to monitor your system hardware and let you know of any potential problems. I would advise to leave them running, but NO, you do not need them. You can stop them by doing;
/sbin/init.d/emsagent stop
/sbin/init.d/diagnostic stop
and to stop them starting at system boot time change the file /etc/rc.config.d/emsagtconf
and changing AUTOSTART_EMSAGT to 0
and vi
/etc/rc.config.d/diagnostic and changing DIAGNOSTICS to 0

Re: Do I need p_client disk_em....
This is due to EMS monitors and diagnostics tools
Go to /sbin/init.d
#emsagent stop
#diagnostic stop
Permanent changes:
edit /etc/rc.config.d/emsagtconf
AUTOSTART_EMSAGT ---0
edit
/etc/rc.config.d/diagnostic
DIAGNOSTICS --- 0

Re: Do I need p_client disk_em....
I have set both variables to 0, rebooted
and they still keep running. Is this a bug?
