Document Management app and MC/SG
We have a Java based Document Management solution that runs on HP Unix. A customer is asking if it will work with MC/SG. Is MC/SG transparent to a Java application? Does an application running in MC/SG need to implement some sort of API?

Re: Document Management app and MC/SG
It is hard to say whether this specific application will work. If some rules are adhered, nearly every application can be integrated in SG.
A good documentation how an application must behave is given in the SG manual, http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/B3936-90045.pdf
See:
Appendix C Designing Highly Available Cluster Applications, specifically "Designing Applications to Run on Multiple Systems"
Appendix D Integrating HA Applications with MC/ServiceGuard
Key points are of an HA application are:
? Avoid Node Specific Information
? Assign Unique Names to Applications
?Use Uname(2) With Care
? Bind to a Fixed Port
? Bind to a Relocatable IP Addresses
? Give Each Application its Own Volume Group
? Use Multiple Destinations for SNA Applications
? Avoid File Locking
