doing lcd or pwd or lpwd or cd using putty psftp very slow

Dear Unix Gurus,
I have installed HP-UX Secure Shell-A.04.30.000.I have tried to implement psftp putty, I can login to Sftp server but unfortunately when I do lcd or cd or pwd or lpwd on psftp command prompt, it responded very slow near 1 minutes.What is the root cause of this?I do not have file trasfer speed performance problem from client to ssh server.Please help.Thanks in advance.

Are you executing those commands while you are in nfs mount? Is the behiour same for nfs mounts and other mounts (particularly for local mounts)

What is the size of /var/adm/wtmp, wtmps and btmp?

Can you observe top and id the process during one of these commands?

What is your version of hp-ux?

Try to run ssh server in a debug mode and see where it stucks.
