domain change effect on Omniback ??

Hi,

I am running Omniback II 3.0 on the N Class machine running 11.0. Now we are undergoing domain name migration i.e we are changing the domain name. What are the necessary steps to follow to avoid breaking of Omniback due to domain change.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks,
Amit Jadhav

Re: domain change effect on Omniback ??

May I suggest making sure when all is said and done that you can do full nslookup (by IP and name). OmniBack requires this...

Just a quick thought,

Re: domain change effect on Omniback ??

Amit,

Be carefull with changing domain names or host in combination with OBII.
Check in the /etc/opt/omni/cell
the cell-info and cell-server file.
This should tell you the hostnames of the machines known within OBII.
When you changed the hostname or domain, you to run the command, I think it is omnidbutil -change cell_server or something like that.

Also make sure the FQDN comes before the alias in the /etc/hosts file.
Also make sure that your DNS is configured correctly.

Re: domain change effect on Omniback ??

Before you make the domain changes. Uninstall all the clients that will be effected. After the name change, re-install the clients.

You may also need to request a new licence key - usually this is only the case if the host / ip change, but it may be required for a new domain as well, not sure... but worth looking into
