Doubt about /var/adm/sw/save

Can Anyone explain me what the path /var/adm/sw/save stores???

superceeded patches.

i.e. PHCO_456 superceeds PHCO_123. If you have a need to remove or back-out PHCO_456 then then swremove will put PHCO_123 back in its place.

If you remove the directory you will corrupt the IPD ( installed products database ).

Use the cleanup utility provided.

somthing like (read man page for more detail )
cleanup -c 1

will remove all patches superceeded at least once.
