Re: Doubts related to HPUX 11.11

1) "top" will be helpful

2) You need to edit smb.conf and
/opt/samba/bin/smbstatus to get the status

3) Network File system (NFS) which is sharable among hosts and Local FS is local to the system

4) exportfs

Re: Doubts related to HPUX 11.11

1. ps -lu "user_name"
UNIX95= ps -u"user_name" -o pcpu,vsz,ruser,args

2. smbstatus, smbclient -L

3. bdf -t nfs, bdf -l

4. ll -d "nfs_mount" , showmount -e "nfs_server"

Re: Doubts related to HPUX 11.11

hi,

for 1, you can also use Glance Plus!

for 3, you can also do: bdf /fs/filename
This should show you if the file system is mounted as NFS or is a local file system

e.g.
# bdf /etc/hosts
Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
/dev/vg00/lvol3 204800 95336 108704 47% /

# bdf /u03/share/PTI
Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
localhost:\\MYSERVER1.CORP.ORG.MU\FSSHARE
304086320 245626952 58459368 81% /u03/share/PTI

hope this helps too!

Re: Doubts related to HPUX 11.11

Shalom Venkat,

In Samba you share directories, not individual files. You can use permissions or ACL configuration to limit who can see or read the files.

Take a look at /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf

Search for share.

There you will see an example of how to set up a Samba/CIFS sharepoint.

/sbin/init.d/smb stop
/sbin/init.d/smb start

That will restart Samba and get your new configuration working.
