Driver for 3com PCI 1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet Card

Anyone have any information on drivers for HP-UX 11i running on an H4000 that will recognize the 3com Gigabit card.. I have searched the HP site and the 3com site and have been unsuccessful...Any help would be appreciated..

If there is a driver for this card for HP-UX, it will not be found on HP's web site.

If the card is supported at all, it will have to be supported by 3Com.

If it didn't come with an HP-UX driver and you can't find one, you have two choices:

1) write your own driver(good luck)
2) get a card supported by HP for HP-9000 servers.

Just because its PCS and it costs less doesn't make it a good idea. An HP card will be supported by HP and will come with a working driver. Yes, it will cost more, but what's your time worth?

An A6825A is _not_ a 3com card. It is an HP card. Yes, you may find 3com stenciled on it somewhere (perhaps the MAC chip that also says Broadcom), but the subvendor IDs (which the HP-UX drivers will check for religeously) will not be a 3com subvendor id.

The driver for the A6825A is the "igelan" driver, which I believe would be on the applications CDs for 11.0 and is (IIRC) on the core media for 11i these days.

The HP-UX igelan driver will _only_ drive cards with the HP subvendor ID. Other cards, which may look otherwise identical to the naked eye, will _NOT_ be claimed by the driver. Those cards will need to have drivers provided from some other source.

From time to time there have been posts from an outfit about how they were willing to do driver work - if someone does have a non-HP NIC for which they want a driver, searching the Google groups archives for comp.sys.hp.hpux may be the way to go. Keep in mind the distinctiong in HPspeak between "works" and "supported" :)

You have mentioned H4000. That concerns me. Do you mean N4000?

A6825-60101 is only supported on PCI/PCI-X platforms. The driver is igelan.
