dropped connection from server

We've upgraded to HP9000/K380 B.10.20 and Informix SE 7.20 software, SmartTerm emulator. I don't know where to start looking for answer for the problem of sudden dropped/terminated connection. The screen session just hang for the longest time and user often have to endtask and re-open a new session. Sometimes re-opening a session becomes a hard task to do until prior sessions of the user is cancelled by the administrator.

Any help is appreciated. TIA.

Start with increasing the verbosity of logging by issuing #inetd -l, and check your syslog. You can also check for errors in the nettl.LOG00.

#netfmt -f /var/adm/nettl.LOG00 > /tmp/logfile

#more /tmp/logfile

I guess you need to monitor your network too, Network problem can also lead to getting disconnected from server in some cases.
