How to do IP Multiplexing/Multinetting on a single lan interface?
Query - How to do IP Multiplexing/Multinetting on a single lan interface?
Dear HP Peers ,
We have one hp A180 Server with HPUX 11.00 Operating System.
I heard that 11.00 OS has "IP Multiplexing Capability".
I would like to assign TWO IP ADDRESSES to a single Lan Interface.
It should have an address on subnet 134.27.40 and 137.27.41
We use Cisco switch and work in vlan environment.
I read that HP-UX 11.00 has IP Multiplexing capability.
Please guide me how can I achieve that. Can we use this feature with
Cisco/VLAN environment ?
Thanking You.

Re: How to do IP Multiplexing/Multinetting on a single lan interface?
Hi,
multiple IP addresses can be configured with:
ifconfig lanX:Y netmask
where X is the lan instance (can be found with: lanscan) and Y is an unique number.
Regards

Kat
As Andreas indicates muti-networking on a single interface is called IP Aliasing.
Hope that Helps.
Have a Great Day!
